30 Second Intro To Using a Wiki
You may make a new page by creating an internal link to a wiki page (or topic) that doesn't yet exist.
Links to Internal Wiki Pages
Link to an internal page by enclosing the name of the page in double square brackets like this: [[Some Page]] Title case is encouraged, spaces are allowed.
Adding a new Wiki Page
Simply press the edit tab at the top of a page where you want your new page to be linked from. You will be presented with an edit window containing the wiki source for this page. Add your new internal wiki link to this page. Save this page by pressing the Save page button. You will now be shown the new state of the page you chose to edit.
Wiki source is generally nothing more than text. Occassionally wiki tags, such as links, may be added to your wiki source but is not necessarry.
When you look at the page you just edited, simply click on the (red) broken link and you'll be brought to an edit window. This is where you add wiki source for your new page with the name Some New Page. Add your text to this edit window (including other links) and press the Save page button. You now have a new page.
Links to outside URLs
Linking to an external page is done similarly to linking to an internal page. The difference is an external link is a set of single square brackets, and there are two fields instead of one. The first field is the URL, the second field is the text to display for the URL.
[http://www.google.com/ Google's main search page] yields the following link: Google's main search page
Uploading and Displaying Images On A Wiki Page
Uploading and linking to images can be done by making an internal link to the Image namespace. Images can be uploaded here, and here is a list of images. Thus [[Image:rkids.png|R-KIDS logo]] results in Image:Rkids.png.
Further Reading On Wiki Formatting
More info about formatting can be found in the Instructions for Editors
Wiki and File Uploads
Further reading will yield information about uploading media and images to MediaWiki. Above is a short description to uploading an image, however there are other data formats supported. As this is an advanced topic and its explained in detail by the media wiki Instructions for Editors it will be left unexplained on this page for now.
